ME PROJECT 01 | BORDER, DISDANCE
I have always been intrigued by the duality of things, particularly in observing the evolving relationship between technology and human emotions in the present moment.
My fascination with how technology influences the distance between individuals began around 2012-2013 when smartphones became ubiquitous. I often found myself commuting between urban centers and rural areas, where I noticed the emergence of a new "pop culture" facilitated by smartphones. The widespread use of mobile devices started fostering a sense of independence in physical spaces, paradoxically isolating individuals while they remained digitally connected. People became confined within the boundaries of their devices, blurring the lines between personal and shared spaces.
As time progressed, events like the pandemic further emphasized our reliance on digital networks. Despite physical distances, technology enabled instantaneous connections with loved ones, transforming solitary moments into shared experiences within the confines of our screens. The boundaries between reality and illusion became increasingly difficult to define, prompting a deeper exploration of our digital interconnectedness.
